Flower Bouquet Craft: Easy Classroom Treats for Any Holiday Party
Once or twice a year I get into the crafting spirit and prepare a little treat for one of my daughter’s classroom parties. I don’t usually like class treats or goodie bags because they are full of plastic tchotchkes and toys that quickly end up in the landfill. Instead, I try to come up with paper-based crafts that don’t leave as much of a footprint on mother earth.
Ditch the Preschool Goodie Bags
Since I had left things till the last possible minute, the only treats left at the store were a few bags of lollipops—which are good treats for any occasion and can work for a variety of holidays and themes.
I decided to create little bouquets, as they went well with our Valentine’s Day theme of a friendship garden, and only took me about an hour to create 20 leafed stems. They also don’t need to be wrapped in any extra plastic or placed in a goodie bag.
I like lollipops as treats, because although they are sugary and void of any nutrients, they are small, well contained on a stick, and most kids get sick of sucking on them for too long.
Lollipop Buds
The supplies needed for this craft are quite simple and you probably have most of it on hand already.
I don’t have a printer at home, so I chose to hand-print and hand-cut everything for a more personal look. But I imagine this would be an easy craft to do for someone with a Cricut printer and cutter machine.
Supplies Needed:
Lollipops
Green construction paper or cardstock
Scissors
Hole punch
Pen
Small cardboard box or flowerpot
Leftover styrofoam from an old package (or floral foam will do)
Green tissue paper
Kebab skewer

Holiday & Themes
Although the floral theme lends well to Valentine’s Day, this bouquet could be used for a host of other occasions, including:
Mother’s Day
Birthdays
Office celebrations, a special promotion, or admin appreciation days
Easter
New Year’s
For this particular craft, I chose a punny phrase that said:
“You’re my best bud!”
and on the sign I wrote:
“Pick a Flower From My Friendship Garden”
However, there are many other interesting flower puns and holiday floral phrases that can be found online. Let me know in the comments below if you find a new occasion or use for them, and what saying you chose!
Happy Picking!
